Hiba is sadly been loaned to a friend since I lost my job last year. Hoping the day will come when I can see him regularly again. I know he's enjoying real pasture for the first time though.

How Is This Trend Popular?

OK, I am really sorry If I offend people with this remark, but I can't take this seriously, and have to say something. The last couple of years I have noticed the trend for people riding in bosals to have their hands so far apart they look like they are riding old school bicycles! The arms on those people must get so tired holding them WAY out there. Now seriously, there CANNOT be a good reason for his...although I'm sure the trainers have made one up?? LOL How on earth did this trend take off and why??? A bosal horse does not NEED the hands held like that to get proper direction or contact. If they did then it would be standard in all breeds and would have been for years. And some how it seems the wider the better? I can't get over how ridiculous it looks! If people really want to be taken seriously with this breed and their shows, why come up with trends that make people scratch their heads and wonder what the heck they will think of next? I was watching some of the Scottsdale show today and had to turn it off, it was like I was watching a bunch of people play airplane on their horses backs! Riding in a bosal with a normal hand position can and has been done for decades with horses who go quite nicely and are well prepared for the next step in their training.... no need to reinvent the wheel... not to mention, Jr horses being ridden in a Bosal shouldn't be at the state of collection yet that requires the head set that many seem to be constantly "checking" them into. Collection comes from behind, and comes with higher levels of training. If your horse has the level of collection needed to really package up into a collected frame, then they should be going nicely without the rediculous hands to keep them there. *sigh*

Can we please stop with the ridiculous trends and just ride our horses?

also wanted to add... LOOK UP! All these people fussing with their horse's heads are looking down at them the whole time! Why is what horse's head doing SO much more important then anything else? You don't ride the head, you ride the hind quarters... head position is a result of correct riding, not the start. ...
